1. Don’t Panic About Getting Your Hair Cut

I know a lot of girls panic about getting a few inches cut off their hair. However, it is recommended by top hair professionals to cut your hair every 6 to 8 weeks to help prevent breakage and split ends. You only need to cut off about a quarter of an inch so you won’t even notice it if you are trying to grow out your hair. You will, however, notice that your hair is fuller and healthier.

Also, it’s not a bad idea to try a short, funky style every few years, especially if you dye your and style it quite frequently. Cutting off the damaged hair and letting it grow back is really healthy for your hair. Don’t be afraid of scissors, ladies. Remember, it’s only hair and it will go back!

2. Wash Your Hair Only 2-3 Times a Week

Frequent washing will dry out your hair and promote breakage. You should only wash your hair 2 to 3 times a week. You may condition every day if needed, or use dry shampoo between washings to keep it healthy.

Also, rinse and condition your hair in cold water as this will also help prevent breakage. It’s also a good idea to use coconut oil at least once a week as a base conditioner for your hair. You can rub some coconut oil in your hair, let it stay for 5 minutes, and then wash and condition as usual.
